In this class, I hope to learn about new technology tools and get familiar/comfortable with using each of them. I believe having a widespread knowledge of technological tools would be useful in any setting nowadays, but especially for a future teacher like myself. Integrating technology in the classroom will be beneficial for both myself and my students. For example, if I want to use Canva in the future to make a classroom welcome sign, I know how to do so; or if I want my students to use Canva for a project, I can teach them how to use it too.
Throughout my 4 years in high school, I was a student-teacher for a program called Little Eagles, an on-campus preschool. While the students themselves did not use much technology (because they are in preschool), as a student-teacher I used it quite often. For example, when the children would participate in Singing & Dancing, I played YouTube or GoNoodle videos on the projector for them to follow along to. I also used technology when making lesson plans by researching and gaining inspiration from other teachers. Fun fact: During my senior year, before I earned my CDA (Child Development Associate), I used Canva to create certain pages of my CDA binder!
One of my favorite things to do is go watch theater shows/performances. There have been many resources, both online and offline, that led me to this hobby. To start with offline resources, my dad is a front-of-house manager at our local performing arts center, so he gets me and my mom tickets for any show we want to see, including Broadway touring companies. Additionally, I was introduced to theater through my friend Bella, who was a performer. I watched her perform in a production of Frozen Jr. at a local community theater, and I have loved it ever since. In terms of online resources, Spotify is a perfect streaming source to listen to my favorite Broadway soundtracks at any time I desire. I have also discovered a lot of my (now) favorite productions through TikTok.
I agree with your first paragraph! We are very lucky to be in an age where we can use inspiration from other educators and get advice and feedback easily. I agree as well, I never used technology to teach students but as a summer camp counselor I used their interest in technology to keep them engaged. I also love theatre! I have a few friends from high school that were really into theatre so I go watch them when they are in shows.
